What can school leaders do when they have teachers who can benefit from coaching, but their school doesn’t have coaches? Jim Knight’s One-to-One Impact Coaching was designed to address this need by offering weekly one-on-one coaching for teachers. In this approach, certified coaches from Jim Knight’s Instructional Coaching Group (ICG) meet weekly with teachers to guide them through the steps of the research-validated Impact Cycle.
In partnership with an ICG coach, teachers will identify powerful goals that will significantly impact student learning or engagement. They will learn and implement high-impact teaching strategies to achieve these goals. Working closely with their coach, teachers will make necessary adaptations until the goals are met. This structured coaching process provides clear evidence of meaningful changes that teachers make to improve student outcomes.
By following the One-to-One Impact Coaching model, school leaders can ensure that their teachers receive the support they need, even in the absence of on-site coaches.
