Since our founding in 2007, social impact has been core to the Instructional Coaching Group's mission of ensuring excellent instruction, every day, in every class, for every student.

After a busy three years of writing, documenting, and reviewing, we are extremely excited to share the news - ICG is officially a Certified B Corporation™ (B Corp™)! We are proud to be joining a movement alongside 6,200+ organizations across 84 countries and 156 industries, all working towards a more inclusive and sustainable economy.

Based on the B Impact Assessment, the Instructional Coaching Group earned an overall score of 86.2 and now we're on the path to 100!

What is B Corp Certification?

B Corps are for-profit, mission-driven companies that seek to balance purpose and profit while boldly reimagining the role that business plays in society. More concretely, Certified B Corps meet B Lab’s high standards for social and environmental impact, making a clear commitment to stakeholder governance, and demonstrating accountability and transparency.

B Lab is a non-profit that measures a company’s social and environmental performance against the standards of the B Impact Assessment. The certification process looks at a business as a whole and examines how it creates value across five key areas: governance, workers, customers, community, and the environment. To become certified, a company must meet – and continue to uphold – high standards for transparency, accountability, and social and environmental performance.

Being a Certified B Corporation indicates that we continue to meet the rigorous standards of social and environmental performance set by the B Lab. This is much more than a stamp of approval; it is a lifestyle. Maintaining our B Corp status will challenge us to be continuously dedicated to our sustainable practices and reminds us to constantly consider how we are affecting our team members, community, and the environment.

Why B Corp Certification matters

B Corps are contributing to a global culture shift to redefine the impact business can have on our communities, and to move away from a reliance on governments and organizations to create that change alone. We’re excited to be part of the B Corp community of change makers, working collectively to address society’s most critical challenges while contributing to a more inclusive and regenerative economy that works for everyone, including our team and clients.

What's Next?

This is only the beginning for the Instructional Coaching Group. Going through the certification process, specifically the rigorous B Impact Assessment, taught us a lot about our strengths and weaknesses in every area of our business. It provided us with goals for our future and a roadmap for continuous change and improvement.

There is more to running a business than financial probability. B Corps look at balancing people, profit, and the planet. And, we are committed to the 3 Ps!

Although we have come a long way in using our business as a force for good, we are on a journey toward continuous improvement. We are honored to have received B Corp certification and to now have the opportunity to work with and learn from the diverse B Corp community.

We will continue sharing about how we're using our business as a force for good, remaining transparent and accountable to our commitments.
