To Succeed Professional Development Needs to Recognize the Complexity of Teaching

I was deeply honored to be invited to present at Sage Publishing’s 50^th Anniversary Celebration, “Stories of Research to Reality:  How the Social Sciences Change the World,” held in Washington D.C on May 15, 2015. Prior to presenting, I was told that my presentation should be similar to a TED Talk, and that since there would be many people from Senators’ and Congressional Representatives’ offices attending the celebration, that I should speak about the topic I thought was most important for legislators to hear.  Below is my 14-minute presentation about the complexity of learning and professional development.
