Partnership in Practice

Grounded in Jim Knight’s partnership approach, this three-part professional learning series explores what it takes to build coaching relationships that have an unmistakably positive impact on students — from enrolling teachers into coaching cycles, to launching video-enhanced professional learning, to navigating resistance with choice, voice, and mutual respect.

Each 90-minute virtual session pairs research-based ideas with practical strategies you can bring back to your school or system right away. Attend a single session or join us for all three.

Across the three sessions, participants will learn how to:

  • Enroll teachers into coaching cycles using proven strategies that build trust and momentum
  • Create the conditions for confident, successful video-enhanced professional learning
  • Understand what might really be going on when we perceive resistance
  • Respond to resistance in ways that increase collaboration between coaches and teachers

Session Lineup

01

Enrolling Teachers into Coaching Cycles

Using the Impact Cycle is an evidence-based approach to partnering with teachers to have an unmistakably positive impact on students. But, how do we actually enroll teachers into the coaching cycle to begin with? This session introduces you to the idea of enrollment and gives you strategies to try as you work to establish Impact Cycles within your school.

02

Getting Started with Video-Enhanced Professional Learning

Successful video-enhanced professional learning begins long before the camera starts recording. In this session, participants will explore why video is such a powerful catalyst for teaching, learning, and reflection while examining the conditions that help educators feel confident using it. Together, we’ll discuss practical guidelines for introducing video in ways that honor both accountability and autonomy.

03

When We Insist, They Will Resist!

Discover how to transform friction into collaboration using Jim Knight’s coaching principles. This interactive workshop explores the root causes of educator resistance and introduces partnerships built on choice, voice, and mutual respect. Let’s explore resistance together and unpack ways to navigate this concept in our schools.
