Taking Stock of Coaching

Session Description
The middle of the school year offers a valuable opportunity to pause and make meaning of our work. Grounded in Jim Knight’s Partnership Principle of Reflection, this interactive session invites instructional coaches and leaders to look back on the first half of the school year, look at the lessons and patterns emerging from their coaching experiences, and look ahead with greater clarity and purpose.

Through structured reflection, collaborative dialogue, and practical planning, participants will connect with colleagues, celebrate successes, explore challenges, and identify priorities for the months ahead. Participants will leave with renewed focus and a clear path forward for strengthening coaching efforts during the second half of the school year.

Guiding Question
How can reflection help us better understand our coaching work and strengthen our impact moving forward?

Outcomes
Participants will:

  • Use structured reflection processes to examine successes, challenges, and lessons from the first half of the school year.
  • Develop a focused plan for strengthening coaching practice and priorities during the second half of the year.

What Participants Can Expect
1. Guided reflection activities
2. Small-group coaching conversations
3. Opportunities to learn from coaches and leaders across contexts
4. Practical planning for the months ahead
5. Time and space to pause, think, and reconnect with purpose

Come ready to reflect, collaborate, and leave with greater clarity for the journey ahead.
