Lead by Learning, Not by Position

Dr. Jim Knight is returning to Chicago this February to lead a 3-part workshop series for leaders who want to strengthen their practice and help others grow. Each session invites participants to see leadership through the lens of coaching and to recognize that leadership isn’t defined by a title, but by how individuals show up for the people they serve. Across roles—whether in a classroom, a building, or a district—every educator has the potential to influence growth. That influence often begins with the simple, meaningful conversations that shape daily interactions.

Three Days of Learning in Chicago’s Western Suburbs

Join Dr. Jim Knight February 17-19, 2026 for three days designed to inspire reflection, connection, and growth.

Topics Covered

  • Day 1 – Managing Challenging Conversations

Gain confidence and clarity in navigating challenging conversations. Learn proven strategies to address difficult situations with empathy, composure, and purpose—turning challenge into an opportunity for growth.

  • Day 2 – Data Rules: A Deep Dive into Best Practices for Effective Data Use

Data is more than numbers—it’s a way to see possibilities and foster hope. Drawing on Data Rules by Jim Knight and Michael Faggella-Luby, this session explores how to use data for reflection, learning, and meaningful improvement.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Gather information that tells the real story
  • Build shared understanding around data
  • Use data to spark growth for both educators and students
  • Day 3 – Leadership Coaching: How to Lead with a Coaching Approach

Leaders who listen, ask good questions, and support reflection help others do their best thinking. In this session, you’ll explore how to embed coaching practices into everyday leadership, creating a culture of trust, collaboration, and growth within your team or school.
