One of the best aspects of attending the Teaching Learning Coaching Conference is the the chance to learn from the keynote presenters’ expertise and impact — not just in the field of education, but across all aspects of professional life. #TLC2021 truly has one of the best presenter lineups in the conference’s history, and as we approach the conference in November, we’ll be featuring each of this year’s six inspiring keynote presenters and their invaluable work.

Today, it is our pleasure to introduce TLC 2021 keynote presenter, Marcia Tate, EdD.

Bestselling author, Marcia L. Tate, EdD, is the former Executive Director of Professional Development for the DeKalb County School System, Decatur, Georgia. During the course of her 30-year career with the district, she has also been a classroom teacher, reading specialist, language arts coordinator, and staff development executive director. In 2001, she received Georgia’s Distinguished Staff Developer Award, and her department won the Exemplary Program Award for the state.

Through her company Developing Minds, Inc., Marcia serves as an educational consultant and has taught over 450,000 administrators, teachers, and parents, as well as community and business leaders, all over the world. In addition to her widely-regarded in-person and online workshops, Marcia shares her expertise through her acclaimed catalogue of 10+ bestselling books.

Her bestselling book, Worksheets Don’t Grow Dendrites: 20 Instructional Strategies that Engage the Brain (2003), has inspired countless educators to teach the way students actually learn and have fun doing it. In the time since the original book’s publication, it has seen multiple editions and launched a series of 7 follow-up books, focusing on specific subject areas.

In addition to this series, Marcia has also published many other books, including Preparing Children for Success in School and Life (2011) and Formative Assessment in a Brain-compatible Classroom: How Do We Know They’re Really Learning? (2016).
