The 2022 Teaching Learning Coaching Conference (TLC) is now only 8 weeks away. As the anticipation builds for our first ever HYBRID on-site/virtual event, we’re rolling out the carpet for some of the most exciting Breakout Presenters TLC has ever had.

Last week on the blog, we introduced several of the extraordinary Breakout Presenters you’ll see at the conference this year. The lineup doesn’t stop there: It’s our pleasure to introduce several more #TLC2022 Breakout Presenters!


Breakout Presenters of #TLC2022 (Round 2!)

Dr. Nathan D. Lang-Raad is an educator, speaker, and author. He is the Chief Education Officer at WeVideo. Throughout his career, he has served as a teacher, elementary administrator,  high school administrator, and university adjunct professor. He was the Director of Elementary Curriculum and Instruction for Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools, as well as education supervisor at NASA’s Johnson Space Center. He is a Google Certified Educator, Microsoft Innovative Educator, Apple Teacher, and serves as the President-Elect of the ISTE Ed Leaders PLN. He serves as the US State Ambassador (Maine) for the Climate Action Project, a collaboration between the United Nations, World Wildlife Fund, NASA, and the Jane Goodall Institute.

Nathan is the author of Everyday Instructional Coaching, The New Art and Science of Teaching Mathematics co-authored with Dr. Robert Marzano, WeVideo Every Day, Mathematics Unit Planning in a PLC at Work, and The Teachers of Oz, co-authored with Herbie Raad.

Breakout Session: Instructional Coaching Connection

As a senior policy analyst with the National Education Association (NEA), Rowena Shurn focuses on systems-level and leadership development, including coaching and mentoring. Leading the work of leadership pathways, she launched a national coaching institute and works closely with accomplished teaching and National Board Certification.

Rowena was a member at large of the Board of Directors for the Maryland State Education Association. She co-chaired the association’s Instructional and Professional Development Committee. Rowena worked with local and state leaders in Maryland on various initiatives. She was the teacher representative on the Teacher Induction, Recruitment, and Retention Act Workgroup. There, she worked with stakeholders to create synergy and alignment of educational policies that impact educators throughout the career continuum in Maryland. In addition, she was one of the teacher leaders to guide development policies for Maryland’s 21st Century Schools facilities.

Breakout Session: Calling “In” to Community

Michelle Harris, Senior Consultant at ICG, began teaching in El Cajon, California. She taught middle school English and social studies before serving as an instructional coach, Title I coordinator, student manager, and assistant principal at three middle schools, a K-8 school, and a 6-12 IBO school, all in Beaverton, Oregon. A seasoned staff developer, Michelle has presented and keynoted all over the United States and in Europe and Africa. She lives in Portland, Oregon, with her husband and two sons.

Michelle is co-author of Evaluating Instructional Coaching and The Instructional Playbook.

Nicole S. Turner is the Founder and CEO of Simply Coaching and Teaching Inc. She is also the founder of the Simply Coaching Summit™—the first virtual summit exclusively for instructional coaches and teacher leaders. 

She is the author of Simply Instructional Coaching: Questions Asked and Answered from the Field and The S.I.M.P.L.E. Framework for Instructional Coaching™ Workbook and the creator of the Track My Coaching Planner™ and the Simply Learning Hub™

Nicole is a candidate for a doctor of education in Curriculum and Instruction at Oakland City University with research focused on the professional development of instructional coaches.

Daryl Michel, PhD, is the founder of Be A Change, LLC, and a lifelong educator who is passionate about engaging with others to learn, teach, and inspire. Daryl began his career in the teaching profession in 1994 and has held teaching or instructional coaching and leadership positions for The University of Texas at Austin’s Meadows Center for Preventing Educational Risk and Institute for Public School Initiatives, WestEd, Johns Hopkins University, Concordia University, and the Northside Independent School District.

He is the co-author of Student-Focused Coaching: The Instructional Coach’s Guide to Supporting Student Success Through Teacher Collaboration.
